DAY 131 – Wonderful? Wonderful Copenhagen? (Part 2)

July 28 - Museum Day & PIZZA!
I usually sleep anywhere, anytime, anyhow, and since we have 200 days that we're couchsurfing through Europe, it's a good thing I do.  Last night, however, was crazy.  Being in Copenhagen and sleeping in a flat above the busiest street with the most popular pizza place was NOISY!  I did get about three hours of sleep with a blindfold and earplugs, but I finally got about about 3 a.m. and just started working on my blog.

I didn't take pictures, but here is the scenario:
3 a.m.    People EVERYWHERE in the streets, at the bars, in the pizza place (packed)
4 a.m.    People and TRASH EVERYWHERE
5 a.m.    Less People and More Trash
6 a.m.    Less People and More Trash ...Here come the BIRDS... Bird noises fighting over the pizza crusts
7 a.m.    Street Cleaning Machines up and down both sides of the streets
8 a.m.    Older Ladies sweeping and washing windows and opening up the shops to start all over again

Photos are taken from our window where we are staying with Maurizo.
Street cleaners right after they have cleaned up the sidewalks and streets

The Pizza Place (supposedly the BEST in town) has the red roof

Trip to the National Museum in Copenhagen - it's FREE, but we got there just an hour before they closed, so we hurried and tried to see as much as we could.  It was so interesting!

I loved all these 19th century sculptures.  Most of the sculptors were students of  Thorvaldsen who did the famous "Christus" that stands in the Church of our Lady in Copenhagen and in the Salt lake City LDS Temple Visitor's Center.

One of the Glyptock's most important works, this large statue of Emperor Trajan in armour - has just returned to the museum after having been the main attraction in the exhibition "The Age of Balance" at the Capitoline Museum in Rome.  There were sure many people flocking to see this statue.

Trajan Close Up

Isn't this so cool how a model town was discovered inside the tomb in 1923?

See the roller coaster from Tivoli Gardens in the background?

I went up to the terrace and what a great view it was.
This says "Shari loves Rich", but it's done in a very early language.
Can you guess what this says graved into the stone?

Mummies are pretty interesting, aren't they?

Here you go Carlene & Sam - you have your own company here in Denmark.

We've had a very nice day in Copenhagen....it's "wonderful"

Back to the street where we live and PIZZA nite!  We have to try the BEST pizza in town.

mmm....and it was good -  OOPS - photo first.
