June 19 - Timisoara, a Really Nice City
We left Curtes de Arges very early (after a long night of partying at a Romanian wedding). Along the way we tried to take some pictures of the countryside.

Many solar panels help with energy |
Gardens and fields of crops seem to be important |
This is how they stack their hay bales for the winter |
This young man really helped us with our travels |
LOVE these train rides - oh boy! |
Here is what we had for lunch - lasagna and a pretzel to share. |
We got To Timisoara, one of the largest cities in Romania after a crazy day of traveling, about 7:00.
Diane, our next couch surfing host, was
teaching vocal lessons, so we met Vlad who is a professional flute
player in several symphonies. When Diane had a break, I accompanied her on a
couple of arias, including “The “Doll Song” while she sang.
She was amazing! She is 41 years old and sounds like she is in her
20's.
It was so great to play for her - what a beautiful voice |
Since she had a few more hours of teaching left, we went out and walked the beautiful city centre plaza, then
tried to find a grocery store.
A very nice park |
The City Hall, I think |
In front of the Opera House, VERY close to Diane & Vlad's flat. |
There was a funny clown on the square keeping the kids occupied |
Inside something, but I'm sorry that I can't remember what it was - HELP! |
We must have walked 5 miles before we found a grocery store. Hardly
anyone spoke English, so we really had trouble. We ate a salad and some
bread outside the store. Then we sat outside of their flat in a common
patio area because it was so hot out. I actually ended up sleeping on
the outside rocking sofa. |
A very comfy chair outside where I slept. |
Their outdoor patio area. |
Really cute area - The blue door goes into their flat. |
This is where Rich slept inside - WAY too hot of a night for me to sleep here. |
