Two Days + 2 Weeks Left to Get It All Done!

We may have found a renter for our home...fingers crossed! Now to clean, paint, and finish packing before they move in. I'm still teaching for two more weeks, so LOTS TO DO!! We're so excited to have our first two months lines up with our couch surfing hosts. Hopefully everything will work out and: - we won't get lost - I won't lose my glasses, or other stuff (I have a reputation for that!) - the couch surfers will have comfy beds - our family won't miss us TOO much! - we won't have forgotten anything - we can carry our 22-lb. backpacks from place to place - we don't encounter "pick-pockets" - we have it covered by button pockets. :) Stay tuned for one more post BEFORE we leave! 30 days til ISTANBUL!

Packing and planning and posting and praying that we'll find some renters for our home.  This will help pay for our trip. Priding ourselves in living in this beautiful 4 level home will be hard to leave.  We've been here 10 years already.  BUT...now on to new adventures:  Europe trip for 7 months, then finishing our new home in Woodville (15 minutes from Idaho Falls).  We are excited for the challenges that lay ahead.  BUT...we will REALLY miss our family and grandchildren.  Hopefully we can stay in touch with this blog, email, facebook, and skype.

We have many couch surf hosts already lined up, especially in Turkey and Greece.  Hosts do not like to accept surfers more than 2 months out.  We've also been in touch with some distant cousins in Sweden which we're really excited to visit.  We found some information on Rich's great great (many greats) grandfather - Louis Hebert - so we'll be going to Paris to find out more about him.

Please take time to drop a note here or email or facebook to let us know how you are and if you have any suggestions for what we should see.  We will try and post nearly every day, so you can keep up with all that we'll be seeing and doing.  they won't be long posts, so as not to make you bored.  :)

50 MORE DAYS til Europe Trip

Planning, planning, planning!  The big day will soon be here.  We're so excited!  But...we also are going to rent out our home, move everything to our new home on the Snake River in Woodville, and get everything ready to be gone for 7 whole months.  We are insane!  AND....our families think so, too.  But, we can do it!  If you know of anyone in the 40 countries of EU that we'll be visiting, let us know.  We'd LOVE to visit them!  AND....if you have any places that you think we should go or visit, we'd LOVE to hear your thoughts.

Stay tuned as we're hoping to post nearly every day on our trip.  March 19th - to Istanbul, Turkey.

6 MORE MONTHS!!

6 more months til we leave for Europe.  We will fly to Istanbul first and then work our way down to Greece,. the back up again to visit about 40 countries.  Planning for this trip is as exciting as actually doing the trip, they say.  I say it's a LOT OF WORK!!  Figuring out where to go, how to get there, where to stay, how to best spend our time, what to take in a backpack,???  Augghhh!  Lots of things to think about.  Then there are the worries of the home here, who is going to pick all the raspberries and strawberries?  Who is going to take care of our Woodville property?  etc. etc.  and missing out on holidays and birthdays with the family.  But 6 months will probably just fly right by - right?

So....we're still in the planning stages,.  If you have a favorite place that we should go or something you think we should see, please post here!  THANKS in advance!

HAWAII 2010

 HAWAII 2010

 Here we are in Hawaii, during a side trip on the Road to Hana.  We took this trip Oct - Nov. 2010 with Rich's parents.  It was their last trip as they are 87 and 90.  We were gone 6 weeks and loved every minute of it.  We flew to each of the islands and saw some amazing scenery.  (More pictures later).  I guess as we enter our 60's, we have some dream trips planned.  Hawaii is only the beginning!!

3 years later - I'm here again!  It's so exciting as we get ready to venture an escapade to Europe for our 10th anniversary!  We'll be leaving April 2013 and be gone 5 months.  SO....if anyone has any places we should visit, please let us know.  We're working on our itinerary now.
